Samskip and Matrans
JBR trad op als exclusieve M&A-adviseur van Samskip bij de oprichting van een joint venture met Matrans.
Het dealteam van JBR Corporate Finance bestaat uit: Rick ter Maat , Alexander Beyleveldt, Melvin Zandstra en Levi Schuurman.
Samskip en Matrans bundelen hun krachten met een ultramoderne terminal en centraal knooppunt in Rotterdam.
JBR heeft Samskip gedurende het verkooptraject bijgestaan als Corporate Finance adviseur.
Samskip, een van de grootste Europese transportbedrijven, is overeengekomen om 50% van de aandelen van de huidige aandeelhouders van Matrans Rotterdam Terminal te verwerven via de zusteronderneming Festing HF. De Matrans Rotterdam Terminal is een multifunctionele terminal met uitgebreide ervaring in shortsea containers, projectlading, papier en pulp en algemene (stukgoed) lading. Festing en Matrans zijn momenteel bezig met het verkrijgen van goedkeuring van de Nederlandse Mededingingsautoriteit (ACM) voor deze joint venture en zullen de beslissing van de ACM afwachten.

Samskip
Samskip, met haar hoofdkantoor in Rotterdam, biedt pan-Europese, milieuvriendelijke gecombineerde transportdiensten via shortsea, weg, spoor en binnenwateren. Hoogfrequente diensten verbinden bestemmingen in heel Europa, IJsland en de Faeröer eilanden, zowel deur-tot-deur als kade-tot-kade, met een breed scala aan schepen, containers, vrachtwagens en trailers.

Matrans
Matrans Rotterdam Terminal (MRT) is een full-service logistiek dienstverlener. MRT is gelegen in het hart van de Europese handel, de haven van Rotterdam. MRT heeft uitgebreide ervaring, namelijk in shortsea containers, projectlading, papier & pulp en algemene (stukgoed) lading. Alle diensten zijn gecentraliseerd in één terminal. Laden en lossen is daardoor efficiënt en van hoogwaardig niveau per (binnenvaart)schip, vrachtwagen of trein.
- Opgericht in Rotterdam in 1967
- Begonnen als een terminal voor bosproducten en geleidelijk uitgebreid naar de multifunctionele terminal die het vandaag de dag is
- Gelegen in Europa’s grootste shortsea-cluster, de Eemhaven in de haven van Rotterdam

SAMSKIP AND MATRANS JOIN FORCES REVOLUTIONIZING GREEN LOGISTICS WITH A STATE-OF-THE-ART TERMINAL AND CENTRAL HUB IN ROTTERDAM.
Samskip and Matrans Rotterdam Terminal are proud to announce the launch of their new terminal and future hub in Rotterdam. This initiative marks a significant step forward in our partnership and commitment towards sustainability and reliable service.
Rotterdam, known as a key multimodal hub in Samskip’s network, has long been vital to its operations. Recognizing the importance of reliability, sustainability and the goal for continuous improvement, Samskip with trusted partner Matrans envision a future of customer centric integrated operations.
This realization comes to life through the development of a state-of-the-art green terminal in Rotterdam. The terminal will serve as a central hub for Samskip and Matrans operations in containerized transport and breakbulk transport.
Samskip will achieve increased control over vessel, rail and barge operations, mitigating bottlenecks and inefficiencies in its supply chain. Complete visibility, control and information over the full value chain allow for optimized planning and simplified operations, reducing costs and time associated with modal switches. Matrans continues operations for existing customers in breakbulk, containers and RoRo (non-ferrous metals, forest products, general cargo and project cargo).
The new hub will focus on sustainable solutions to drive multimodal transport, combined with electrification of vehicles, shore power and solar power, contributing to reduced environmental impact. The terminal will contribute to faster and more reliable transit times for containerized and breakbulk transport. This will include the lowest possible CO2 footprint, aligning with both Samskip’s and Matran’s commitment to sustainability.
Digital solutions will optimize transport and operations, driving improved efficiency and reliability. The integration of IT systems across the supply chain enables dynamic prioritization of cargo and enhances operational flexibility, further enhancing Samskip’s and Matrans’ customer-centric approach. These efforts will streamline processes and enhance efficiency, decarbonization and high reliability for current and new customers of Samskip and Matrans.
